Ciro Marchetti's Tarot of Dreams is an incredibly beautiful, unique and mesmerizing card set. The Arcana are famous for their brightness, multi-layeredness and deep imagery, which turns fortune telling into an unusual and fascinating experience. Let's take a closer look at the cards.

How the deck came to be

As you might have guessed, the creator of the Tarot of Dreams was Ciro Marchetti, who sought to convey traditional archetypes through unusual and vivid images seen in dreams. Of course, this idea has already been embodied in the Tarot Magic of Dreams or the Tarot Path of Dreams. However, Ciro Marchetti's deck appeared earlier.

The author released the first version independently in 2005. They came out measuring 9 x 14 cm, had a golden cut and included a CD with illustrations and layout options. There were a standard 78 cards.

The second edition was published in 2009, which already included instructions from Lee Bersten. It was distinguished by the presence of four additional Court cards (one for each suit). But here it is already noticeable that the printing quality has decreased. Thinner paper was used, there was no gold cut, and the parameters were reduced to 7.5 x 11.5 cm.

The third edition with 82 cards appeared again in samizdat in 2012, but then the publishing house US Games Systems showed interest in the deck. So in 2016, an official version with a size of 8 x 12.7 cm was released.

Features of Tarot cards

Ciro Marchetti's Tarot of Dreams deck follows the tradition of Waite, but the imagery is presented in a completely different way. The characters are close to modern times. The numbering and names of the Court cards have been preserved, but 4 additional arcana have emerged - Palaces in which court characters live.

Additional symbolism is present on the Major Arcana. You can consider the number of the Trump, a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, a symbol from astrology and the number of paths of the Tree of Life according to Kabbalah. There are also astrological correspondences in the Minor Arcana, but without the Tree of Life. Court cards only contain elemental signs.

Symbols in the Tarot of Dreams by Ciro Marchetti

You might have already guessed that Ciro Marchetti's Tarot of Dreams uses surreal and mystical images that people usually see only in dreams and daydreams. But this is not a standard set of fancy images, but a transmission of emotions and experiences awakened in the subconscious.

All the images on the cards stand out for their brightness and ability to awaken associations. They are great for meditation and self-absorption. The symbolism is breathtaking! But you better study the cards yourself and realize their greatness.
