In January 2006, in New York, a patient of a famous psychiatrist painted the face of a man who constantly appears in her dreams. On many occasions, he gave her advice on what to do in her personal life. The woman says she has never seen this man.
The portrait lay on the psychiatrist’s table for several days, another patient saw it and recognized him as a man whom he often sees in his dreams. They had never met in life.
The psychiatrist decided to send the portrait to several of his colleagues who had patients with recurring dreams. Within a few months, four more patients recognized this face. All the patients called him “that man.”
From January 2006 to today, at least 2,000 people have claimed to have seen this face in their dreams. These people live in different cities around the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Delhi, Moscow, etc.
To verify the authenticity of this story, The Epoch Times contacted the administrators of the This Man website to find out the name of the psychiatrist who first discovered this phenomenon. The site administrators did not respond.
The site says: “Over the past few months, some people have tried to stop the investigation of this site, claiming that we have a hidden marketing agenda. It's a lie! These people are probably just afraid that “that person” will soon appear in many people’s dreams.”
Why does this person appear in dreams?
Theories: who is he and why does he come in a dream?
According to the site, there are different theories. Some suggest that it fits into Carl Jung's theory of archetypes and the collective unconscious process. This may be an archetypal image that appears in the subconscious at a time of difficulty.
Others say that this is a real person who somehow gained the ability to travel through the world of dreams.
Or it is a supreme being who appears in people's dreams.
Some argue that people do not see faces clearly in dreams. When they see this photo, they mistakenly believe that the vague faces in their dreams are this person.
Posters and leaflets featuring this person appeared all over the world. Posters of the site can be seen in Lithuania, Brazil, Germany and other countries.

1. “I saw this man... He was walking down the street, and I just stood there. He walked past me, he was taller than me and stood out from the crowd. He spoke to me. "I believe in you. You can overcome this pain and stress,” he said.
2. “I saw this man in a dream... he tried to kill me. I sat on the swing, and he slowly approached me with a frozen smile on his face. When he came close, I tried to scream, but my mouth could not make a sound. He started laughing and I started running. I couldn't run fast enough, I woke up at that moment. I saw him in my dreams several times, each time in a different place.”
3. “I saw this man. It was a very strange dream. I saw myself in an abandoned city. I was walking and calling for help when I saw his face, he was looking at me from the window. Then I went into one of the houses and sat on the bed. Then I heard a creak and saw him nearby. Such dreams never happened again.”
4. “I was in an old abandoned hospital with old wheelchairs. I had never been there before, but it felt like this place was familiar to me. I saw this man, he beckoned me to him with a nod. He looked scared and shouted at me. I tried to walk next to him, but when I turned the corner, he was standing in front of me, with a smile on his face and a scalpel in his hand. I realized that he wanted to kill me and tried to run away, but I could not move. He cut my throat with a scalpel, and laughed as he did so. This laughter sounded like it was out of this world. “I woke up with a sore throat that I couldn’t even speak.”
The desire to be close
You can often hear that some people are brought together by fate itself. To some extent, this is true. Description: SCP-990 is a generally male figure dressed in a Cold War-era business suit who appears to Foundation personnel in dreams. To date, no Foundation personnel have encountered SCP-990 in the real world; if it corresponds to a real person, it has yet to be found. To date, there have been no reports of SCP-990 appearing to people outside of the Foundation's employ.
SCP-990 has appeared to Foundation personnel since [DATA EXPUNGED]. The existence of SCP-990 was discovered when multiple agents were discussing dreams involving the same person. Numerous other agents have also reported dreams of a person matching the description of SCP-990. The phenomenon was not officially classified as an SCP object until the effects of Event 990-07 occurred.
Event Log 990-07:
Agent ██████ failed to report for duty at the scheduled time. He was found sleeping in his home. The subject slept for approximately eighteen (18) hours and all subsequent attempts to awaken him were unsuccessful. Subject was transported to the infirmary.
After 40 hours of sleep, subject awoke in an extremely agitated state. The subject reportedly ran through the facility shouting loudly about "the end of the world." Even after being heavily sedated, all of his physical functions remained in a dangerously accelerated state: rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, etc.
Subject described a person whose appearance was consistent with SCP-990. According to Dr. ██████████'s report, the agent described in great detail the sequence of events that would lead to the launch of multiple tactical nuclear warheads across Central Europe and East Asia, ultimately leading to the destruction of 98% of the human race and the complete destruction of human society. The agent stated that SCP-990 outlined information to him while he was trapped inside his dream.
Mobile Task Force ██-█ was dispatched to eliminate the primary threat that would begin the chain of events. MTF ██-█'s mission was successfully completed and the crisis was averted. Agent ██████, however, did not survive the effects of the stress and died from shock-like symptoms.
Since Event 990-07, SCP-990 has appeared to many Foundation personnel with similar threats. Although no other situations on the scale of Event 990-07 occurred, SCP-990 successfully predicted the deaths of Doctors ████, ██████, and ████, as well as the destruction of Observation Station Epsilon-38 and [DATA EXPUNGED].
